David A. Schwerin, Ph.D., is the author of Conscious Globalism: What’s wrong with the world and how to fix it (Digital Junction Press, 2005) and Conscious Capitalism: Principles for Prosperity (Butterworth-Heinemann, 1998). Conscious Capitalism has been translated into Portuguese and Chinese (2001) and is in its second printing in China. Conscious Globalism was published in the U.S. and China (Social Sciences Publishing House) in 2005. Schwerin has also authored or co-authored more than two dozen articles on a variety of subjects including, psychology, ecology, ethics and socially responsible business. He has spoken at the Central Party School of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese Academy for Governance and the South China Institute of Environmental Sciences. Schwerin has given numerous interviews including The Journal of the China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong as well as Xinhua News Agency where he has also lectured.
Davids Experience
Dr. Schwerin has over thirty years of business experience, beginning as a financial analyst and senior investment officer with a large bank and then founding D J Investment Advisors, Inc., serving as its President since its inception. He has taught economics on the college level and has given expert witness testimony on financial matters. His articles have been published worldwide and he has often been quoted in the press. He received his undergraduate degree in Business, an MBA in Finance and a Ph.D. in Consciousness Studies. He was awarded membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, a national business honor society and has been a member of the Financial Analysts Federation and The Sustainable Business Network. David has served as the Chairman of the Pathwork Press as well as on the boards of directors of a number of non-profit organizations. He was the President of the Institute for Ethical Awareness and a member of the Advisory Board of the Pedro Arrupe Center for Business Ethics, Erivan K. Haub School of Business at St. Joseph’s University.
Lecture Platforms
Dr. Schwerin has given lectures, presentations and radio and TV interviews throughout the U.S. From 2001 through 2018 he made eight extended visits to China where he has given over fifty lectures in more than a dozen Chinese cities. The lectures covered a variety of business topics and were presented to political leaders, business executives and academic audiences. In 2005, he helped establish and dedicate The Center for Social Responsibility at Tianjin University of Commerce, Tianjin China where he served as a visiting Professor. In 2007 Schwerin was the featured speaker at a press conference in Beijing and gave keynote speeches in Dalian and Tianjin on ethics and the environment. In 2009 he was appointed an Honorary Director of the Corporate Social Responsibility Research Center at Suzhou University of Science and Technology and a guest professor at Tianjin Normal University. A book entitled, “Schwerin’s Thoughts on Social Responsibility” was written by Professor Wenhua Nan and published in 2018.
